  I feel as if the majority of the employees 'give up' easily. I understand that the item(s) that I am looking for are not always in stock. Also, it may be an item that needs to be special ordered. I believe that this is generally a 'training' issue. The employees seem to be trained to point the customer to an aisle or a shelf. When it turns out that the product is not on the shelf, the employees give up and tell you that they are sorry. This is about as helpful as screen doors in a submarine.
  Where is the person who can help the customer figure out how to get it done? Or at the very least, direct the customer to another supplier that can service the customers need. You have a pro desk that is not staffed throughout the weekend. Homeowners have weekday jobs as well. Logically they will be coming in on the weekends to get what they need for maintenance on their properties.
  Does this sound like far fetched idea?
